Phuket is located in the south of Thailand,
“the land of smiles”. The island is on the west
coast and lies in the Andaman Sea. Phuket is
Thailand’s largest island, it is 48.7 kilometers
and 21.3 kilometers wide of which 77% is mountain,
Phuket is surrounded by 32 smaller islands.
The word “Phuket” came from the Malayan word
“Bukit”, which means mountain. Formerly, Phuket
was only known for its rich tin,silk and rubber.
Today, it is better know as a tourist paradise.
The Island boasts 16 fine white sandy beaches
with crystal blue sea which is renowed as a
base for major sea recreation.
